I shut down my laptop, and now it won’t boot or show the drive in BIOS. I’ve tried reseating the SSD—no luck. Is this a motherboard or firmware fault?

So your BIOS is not spotting your SSD, and that is super annoying. I have been there; one minute everything works, the next your computer’s acting like your SSD vanished into thin air. And it’s not always as scary as it seems.

First, check if your cables are loose. I know, it sounds basic, but even the tiniest bump inside your computer can knock stuff loose.

Happened to me once after moving my desk suddenly poof, no SSD! So, just open up your PC and give those cables a gentle push. If you are on a laptop, there is no shame in asking for help.

But what if your cables are good? Sometimes, a BIOS update or a random setting can mess things up. head into the BIOS (keep tapping F2, Delete, or whatever your brand uses when turning on)

and see if your SSD shows up in the boot list or settings. If not, double-check if AHCI is enabled; some SSDs just don’t like other modes.

And if none of this works? Don’t panic yet. SSDs do fail, but it’s rare. Try your SSD in another PC if you can. If it works there, your motherboard might be the culprit.

So don’t stress! Most times, it’s a weird setting or a loose cable. Give it a shot; you have got this!

You turn on your PC and bam, your SSD is nowhere to be found. Super annoying, right? This happened to my cousin last month.

And guess what? It was just a loose cable. Double-check if those cables are tight. If that is not it, hop into BIOS and make sure it’s set to detect your drive.

Sometimes, you just need to reset BIOS. Even a little dust can cause problems, so do not panic. Just go step by step. Nine times out of ten, it’s something simple.
