This worked perfectly on Ventura. Now after Sonoma update, Mac says “unable to communicate with Apple Watch.” Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and proximity settings are all fine. Any system-level fix?

You just updated your Mac to macOS Sonoma, feeling all fancy and futuristic, right? But then, bam!, your Apple Watch, which used to unlock your Mac like magic, just stops.

No buzz on your wrist, no unlocked screen. Just you, typing your password like it’s 2010 again. annoying. But don’t worry, I have been there too, and I have got a few tricks that might help.
First, check the basics (because sometimes it’s the silly stuff).

        Make sure:
        1. Your Apple Watch is actually on your wrist and unlocked.
        2. Both your Mac and Watch have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on.
        3. You are signed in with the same Apple ID on both devices.
(You’d be surprised how often that last one slips by after an update!)

        Try this:
Turn off and on unlock with Apple Watch:
Go to System Settings > Touch ID & Password on your Mac. Toggle off “Use Apple Watch to unlock apps and your Mac”, wait a sec, then turn it back on.

        Restart both devices.
Sounds too simple, I know. But trust me, it actually works most of the time.

Sign out of iCloud and sign back in.
Bit of a hassle, but it resets some behind-the-scenes stuff. Just make sure you have everything backed up first.

        Check for updates.
macOS Sonoma’s still fresh. Apple might already be fixing the bug in a small update you haven’t installed yet.
