So you are just chilling, maybe scrolling through YouTube or watching Netflix, and suddenly your laptop sounds like it’s about to take off.
I have been there. it’s super annoying. You are not even playing a heavy game or editing a video, and yet that fan is going wild.
1. Old Thermal Paste: This one is more technical, but basically, your processor needs a paste to transfer heat properly. If it’s old or dry, your fan works overtime. A repair shop can fix that for cheap.
2. Dusty Fans: This one surprised me too. I opened up my laptop once (with help, obviously) and found a mini dust storm inside.
Dust makes it harder for your fan to cool things down, so it spins faster and louder. You can gently clean it with a can of compressed air. It’s oddly satisfying.
3. Power Settings: Switch to Power Saver mode. Sounds boring, but it tells your laptop to chill when you are not doing much. It works.
4. Too Many Background Apps: Let me tell you, sometimes your laptop is working harder than it needs to. Even when you think it’s idle, it might be running updates or background apps.
Open your Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and check what is hogging the CPU. If you see something fishy, right-click it and hit “End Task.
